Arseny Avraamov conducts the Moscow premiere of the "Siren Symphony", standing on the roof  of MSPS (1923)

Siren Symphony is a utopian project of the constructivist era, a grandiose aural performance of the early 1920s. The symphony features the sounds of  factory, locomotive and car horns, sirens, artillery, aviation, machine guns, bells, brass bands, choirs and a huge, specially invented musical instrument - the Magistral, a network of tuned steam whistles. The author of this ambitious project was the theorist, composer and musical eccentric Arseny Avraamov (1886-1944). Despite the extraordinary scale, the project was brought to life in 1922 in Baku, and in 1923 in Moscow, on the anniversary of the October Revolution. This reconstruction was created in 2009, by a researcher of  Arseny Avraamov's work, St-Petersburg composer and sound designer Sergei Khismatov.

The project was supported by the "PRO ARTE" Foundation (St- Petersburg) and Samsung.
