The workshop will focus on the multi channel sound installations  called "Room Pieces". Schumacher will discuss how they developed,  influences, the techniques of composition, spatialization issues,  equipment, conceptual issues and the various ways the pieces are  presented, from pure installation to mixed installation with live  performance, including video. Examples of different manifestations of  "Room Pieces" will be played and discussed. Participants will develop  performance techniques for "interacting" with the installation, looking  at scores, including generative and video scores, discussing  approaches to improvisation, pitch material and timing schemes. Each  day will involve listening to the installation, working on playing  techniques, reading scores and rehearsing with the installation. The  end result will be a four hour performance with multi-channel sound  system.

1. People should submit 5 examples of their playing, each example a  different approach or technique. Examples should be between 3o seconds  and 1 minute.
2. Open to all instruments, but electronics players (guitar, synth,  homemade electronics, etc.) would need to bring their own speaker  system.
3. Vocals are also OK.
4. Also OK are electronics people who process other peoples' sounds.
