The group and journal VIDIOT first appeared in Moscow in 2007, founded by Kirill Preobrazhensky, Ilya Korobkov and students of the Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia.
Despite the existence of similar projects in the history of video art, this representation of digital art is little known in Russia. The journal is distributed in DVD format and via the Internet, as part of large-scale work to expand the artistic space for representing and supporting young artists working with new technologies. Most of the works are created specially for VIDIOT and have never been exhibited previously.

The group has recently released five themed issues:

  • VIDIOT. 01. Psycho-geography. Cheremushki.
  • VIDIOT. 02. Kursk.
  • VIDIOT. 03. Time.
  • VIDIOT. 04. Seven girls' stories.
  • VIDIOT. 05. The D.I.Y. Path. (Full-length feature video film)

Artists from the VIDIOT group take regular part in numerous exhibitions and festivals, both in Russia and abroad. The team is currently working on the release of the next issue of the journal, as well as preparing the first major exhibition of group members.
