LA FURA DELS BAUS
La Fura dels Baus is Catalan theatre group, founded in 1979 in Barcelona. It gained fame as an urban theater, using unusual props and erasing the boundaries between actors and spectators.
In over 30 years of success and continuous work, the members of La have put in 2500 performances and large-scale outdoor shows, seen by more than 3 million viewers on 4 continents. Among the theatre's work: an opera performance at the Salzburg Festival, the Ruhr Trienniale and the Maggio Musicale in Florence; high-tech street shows on the occasions of the Millennium and Olympic Games, film and digital theatre. In putting on its large-scale performances all over the world, the group has been sponsored by companies like Pepsi, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Volkswagen, Swatch, Microsoft, Columbia Pictures, Warner Bros, Sun Microsystems.
Macro-performances, film, opera, theatre, video, installations using the most advanced lighting effects, video graphics and advanced computer technology - La Fura works in all these genres.
Verbal content is not a major factor in the theatre's performances, with preference given to the creation of aesthetics, symbolism and connotations of visual range, space, motion, light and sounds.
Each La Fura dels Baus presentation is unique, taking into account the particularities of the space in which it takes place, as well as spectator participation.
